Corruption, Purity and Desire - The FanMix
Title: Corruption, Purity and Desire

author: ragelikeafire

pairing: andy/miranda

Disclaimer: The Devil Wears Prada, Saving Grace and L&O Criminal intent do not belong to me. No infringement intended to Lauren Weisberger and 20th Century Fox. All characters are purely fictional. I do not own rights to any of the songs featured on the album nor am I making any profit from their use. Thanks to various crime fiction for the inspiration behind the dialogue.

In preparation for the long overdue 12th Chapter of Corruption, Purity and Desire, I have created a fanmix and some images for chapters 1-12 and some little teasers in there for the new chapter.

A/N2: No doubt you will already had preconceived images of Sharpe, Moore and Curran in your head but here they are as the author intended... I am not the most talented artist and the resolution hasn't come out as clear as I would of liked, so please bear that in mind. Comments would be glorious!

In clockwise order: Miranda Priestly (1), DA Beatrice Sharpe, Andy Sachs (1), Eddie Curran, Captain Bobby Moore, Miranda Priestly (2), Emily Charlton, Cassidy & Caroline Priestly, Nigel, Andy Sachs.

Summary of Chapters

Part 1 – Andy Sachs is working on a series of criminal case stories for the NY Post when she receives a lead and goes to meet the informant. After revealing the details of a corruption scandal within the NYPD to Andy, Cop Vincent O’Hanlon commits suicide. But O’Hanlon was not alone and Andy find herself running for her life.

Part 2 – Avoiding an empty house, Miranda is working late in the office. As she walks through the Elias Clark lobby a newsflash on the television screen catches her attention. She learns that Andrea Sachs has been shot and killed. She is suddenly filled with sadness and regret. Miranda then turns to Emily to get her what she needs.

Part 3 – Miranda contacts Eddie Curran the Editor of the NY Post. Who, reveals that Andrea is in-fact still alive, but in a serious condition in hospital. Miranda races to be by Andrea’s side.

Part 4 – After Andrea wakes to find Miranda at her bedside; the two women share many tender moments as they work on becoming reacquainted. The nightmare of the previous evening becomes reality to Andy but thankfully Miranda is there to pick up the pieces.

Part 5 – An emotional Andy is comforted once again by Miranda. Miranda contacts the Editor of the NY Post and does what she needs to do to ensure Andrea’s safety. Emily is summoned to the hospital.

Part 6 – Upon arriving at the hospital, Emily is updated on the situation. After getting over her initial shock she proceeds to do what she does best; which is to give Miranda what she needs to get situation under control. The NYPD IA department arrive to take Andy’s statement and Miranda stays with her as she relays her story to Captain Moore. The chapter concludes as Miranda calls District Attorney Sharpe and really starts to pull on the reigns.

Part 7 – Miranda leaves victorious, after a battle of wills with DA Sharpe. Emily turns to Nigel for some moral support and Miranda surprises her by sending her home for the evening. Alone in the hospital room Miranda and Andy see in the New Year together.

Part 8 – Both women are forced to deal with the emotional aftermath of the New Year’s Eve spent together. Andy is told that she will soon be discharged from the hospital and Miranda insists that Andrea must stay at the townhouse.

Part 9 – DA Sharpe and Captain Moore progress with the investigation and we learn more about their working relationship. Miranda returns to work and prepares for Andrea’s arrival at the townhouse. Once Andy settles we see the relationship develop as their feelings slowly bubble to the surface.

Part 10 – Miranda battles with some emotional demons as she struggles to come to terms with the depth of her feelings for Andrea. Captain Moore rattles some cages in the interogation room and with DA Sharpe’s assistance they continue to make progress with the case. Emily is not as fortunate, as she is forced to deal with her biggest challenge yet.

Part 11 – Emily is left to pick up the pieces after she breaks the ugly news to Miranda. Thankfully, Nigel is on hand to stop her leaping off the ledge. Miranda and Andy have to deal with the fallout of the news which forces them into some difficult conversations. Andrea continues on her road to physical recovery but the emotional scars still run deep.

Part 12 – As the nightmares continue Andy seeks solace in Miranda arms; moving the relationship to the next level. Back in the office, Miranda gives Emily an unexpected gift. DA Sharpe delves into the depths of the case and finds herself at Miranda’s door looking for answers. The chapter concludes with Twins making some demands of their own.

Teasers****
Part 13
– Things aren’t running so smoothly for Miranda and Andy as the gravity of their situation begins to catch up with them. DA Sharpe is forced to push matters of the heart aside as she and Captain Moore pursue a new suspect. Even with Sharpe and Moore on the case it appears that we aren’t out of the woods yet.

Sleeve Notes

1. Stop crying your heart out – Oasis (Chapter 1)
This song not only sums up how Andy is feeling inside but also the courage that is takes for her to get up and fight for her life. The voice inside telling her that you can’t change what has happened and that everything is going to be ok... as long as she believes.

2. Achilles Heel – Toploader (Chapter 2)
I wanted something that could portray the many layers of this chapter. Ultimately shown through Miranda’s sub consciousness; how Andrea made her feel and the scars that she left behind. What would she and could she do with a second chance?

3. Glorious – Andreas Johnson (Chapter 3)
The strings encompass the urgency to race to Andrea’s bedside and the ebullience that she is feeling after discovering that it is not too late. She has arrived...

4. Set down your glass – Snow Patrol (Chapter 4)
I wanted the melancholy sound to represent the tenderness that Miranda gives Andrea and how she makes her feel safe again. A woman of very few words, I imagine this to be the unspoken words of Miranda’s soul.

5. Across the Universe – The Beatles (Chapter 5)
I enjoy the use of irony as much as the next person and when used in this context this song certainly delivers. Again I love the melancholy sounds that represent the time the two women spend together in the hospital. The equal amounts of sorrow and joy that Andrea feels in each second. Everything has changed...everything.

N.b. If you’re curious; Jai guru deva om is a chant that John Lennon created to help him meditate.

6. Cold Shoulder – Adele (Chapter 6)
I searched and searched for the right songs for Emily and I’m pleased to say that I think I found them. She is the long suffering assistant to Miranda Priestly; highly devoted yet bitter, she is Emily.

7. Everybody’s gotta learn sometimes – Beck (Chapter 6)
This chapter is full of admissions of regret and sorrow. The song represents the fact that nobody is perfect and we all make mistakes. Those mistake help to us grow and become who we need to be. But we need to understand that we can’t always do it alone.

8. Play Dead – Bjork (Chapter 7)
The song to me represents the persona that Miranda presents to the world. The stone and ice façade; if she is not human she cannot be hurt. Beatrice Sharpe has this pre-conceived idea of Miranda, but as the story continues she gets to glimpse behind the mask.

9. Mirrorball - Elbow (Chapter 8)
I wanted something that could sum up everything that Miranda was feeling after kissing Andrea. Walking the reader through her story, how did she feel? What does she feel? What does it mean now?

10. City - Sara Bareilles (Chapter 9)
Sharpe’s story

11. Crawl – Kings of Leon ((Chapter 10)
Moore’s story

12. Ride of the Valkyries – Wagner (Chapter 11)
This is the ringtone that Miranda has set for both of the twins on her cell phone.

13. Teardrop – Massive attack (Chapter 12)
For me the love scene was always going to be intense. Unrushed and filled with equal amounts of trepidation and surety.

14. Distant Dreamer – Duffy (Chapter 12)
The second of the songs chosen especially for Emily.

15. Broken – Lifehouse (Chapter 13)
This represents the relationship between Sharpe and Moore.

16. Soon we’ll be found – Sia (Chapter 13)
There are some difficult times ahead for both Andrea and Miranda and their relationship

17. The world that we live in – The Killers (Chapter 13)
This song fitted perfectly for Sharpe and Moore as they pick up and interrogate their suspect
